President's Speech
Our association was started in 1949 and this year 2023 has entered its 74th year. My thanks to those who have been members of this association. This Sangam has been held in different periods since its inception till today. Members of our Association's Board of Directors and other professional businesses have helped to design and publish the collections of events.On behalf of the Chamber, I thank all Members of the association, especially Central, state and district government officials, financial institutions, industrialists, business magnates, academicians, doctors, auditors, advocates, journalists and other business consultants.
History
Our association was registered on 15th May 1949 with registration number 6/1949. At that time, Mr. Subramanian was the President and Mr. S. Sankara Narayanan was the Secretary.
In 1979, Mr. K.S. Raman (from India Cements Group) became President and Mr. K. Sivaraman was the Secretary. In 1991, Mr. K. Vee. Rajenthiran became President and Mr. G. S. Janarthanan became Secretary. Mr. Rajenthiran donated 10 cents of land in Kokrakulam to the Chamber.
In 2004, Haji Janab T.E.S. Badhur Rabbani became President, and Mr. Janarthanan continued as Secretary. In 2007, Mr. S. Chandramouli took over as Secretary.
Our Chamber celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2009.
Mr. Gunasingh Chelladurai was the Chairman of the celebration committee. In 2011, he became President, and Mr. MKM Syed Ahmed Kabeer became Secretary.
The Chamber has organized various awareness programs, seminars, and workshops for members and the public. Members also went on industrial visits. We have hosted talks on topics like service tax, GST, central budgets, and import-export.
The Chamber has supported several government projects aimed at improving life in Tirunelveli District. Our members have served on Indian Railway committees at different levels, and our representation has been well-regarded by both the business community and the public
